Essay on Jeff Bezos
Introduction: It was an individual assignment for leadership and reflection course to write an essay on modern leader for which I chose Jeff Bezos (CEO of Amazon). This artifact is selected to denote the competency of leadership as it facilitated me to identify the leadership style and traits of Jeff Bezos and compare it with my own traits for self reflection. I learnt that creativity, decision making and mobilization of teams are the leadership traits that have turned Jeff Bezos into second wealthiest person of the world. My creativity, analytical skills and knowledge on leadership assisted in completing this assignment.
Reflection: I learnt from this assignment that building relationship of trust with both employees and customers is crucial to emerge as a successful business leader. I will write essay on Mark Zuckerberg if I redo this assignment as he is also most influential leader of modern world. I will advise other students to select a highly qualified business leader for this assignment as it will help them in self-reflection.
Leadership in Organizations
Introduction: We were assigned a group assignment on ‘leadership in organizations’. This artifact is selected to represent leadership competency as students had to study importance of leadership in organizations, difference between managers and leaders, leadership qualities and styles that different leaders adapt to meet their goals. The skills used in completing this assignment were leadership and team work.
Reflection: This assignment taught me that leaders are different from managers as they hold influential personality and motivate people to follow their commands through imitation i.e. they become role model for people unlike managers who instruct people to carry-out tasks. If I redo this assignment, I will perform additional research by visiting websites on leadership. I will suggest other students to study the leadership styles and traits with full attention to polish their personal leadership qualities.
Leadership Reflection
Introduction: After the course of leadership got completed, I was assigned to write a reflection on the overall course aspects. I reviewed my instructor’s performance, the quality of delivery of the course and the projects and assignments we were assigned during the course therein the assignment. All this utilized my skills of critical analysis, leadership and communication.
Reflection: This assignment was very useful in getting to learn about the leadership, the different traits of it and the possible styles with which leadership can be done. I also learnt the importance of this competency in the professional life of an individual. If I repeat this assignment, I would also include the suggestions for the betterment that could be brought in the course the next time. I suggest the students, taking up this assignment, to write the reviews honestly without getting intimated by anyone so that the coming batches can benefit.
Personality Test
Introduction: My instructor assigned me to perform a personality test and show the results in written form. I studied the tests thoroughly and performed them afterwards to get my assignment completed. While working on this assignment, I worked really hard and used my skills of written communication, critical analysis, technology and leadership.
Reflection: I learnt the personality traits of different kinds of leaders in this assignment. I learnt how the swapping of some of the qualities of an individual can make him a good and effective leader. If I repeat this assignment, I would critically evaluate the strong and weak points of a personality of an individual looking forward to be a leader. I suggest that the students performing the personality tests should perform a wide research into the topic so that they can get to learn the personality traits that they should adopt according to their desired leadership style in the future.
