Case Study on ‘Organ Donation’
Introduction: I was assigned to solve a case study on ‘Organ Donation’. I examined the nine famous myths related to organ donation and explained why it is a factual information. This artifact is selected to represent the competency of critical thinking as it involved the skills of problem solving, evaluation, analysis and interpretation. I keenly evaluated the myths and interpreted the category in which they fall. I also used my critical thinking and writing skills to complete this assignment.
Reflection: This assignment helped me in building critical thinking skills as I learnt to examine the fallacy of myths. Before this assignment, I believed on different myths that donating organs leads to complexities as the doctors do not work hard to save the life of donators or it is against the religious values. If I repeat this task, I will examine other myths that I have not analyzed in this case study. I will advise my fellow students to carefully identify and interpret the myths under correct category.
Summary of Chapter 10
Introduction: I was assigned by teacher to write a summary of chapter 10 ‘Becoming a Critic of Your Own Thinking’. This artifact is selected to denote critical thinking competency as I was able to examine my own thinking and improve my decision making. This assignment enlightened me about good and bad thinking and ways in which a person can quit his bad habits by daily practicing. My skills of evaluating, analyzing and problem solving helped me in completing this assignment as I was able to implement the principles of critical thinking in daily life.
Reflection: I learnt from this assignment that a person must adapt second order thinking in dealing with every day issues as it helps in reforming ordinary thinking into self-exploring and reflective. If I redo this task, I will try to implement different theories of critical thinking to improve my thinking habits by removing negative perceptions and prejudice. I will suggest other students to examine their thinking habits truthfully while doing this assignment as it will help them in developing critical thinking skills and making improved decisions.
Force Field Analysis Worksheet
Introduction: in my course of critical thinking and problem solving, I was assigned to make a worksheet on the basis of some critical analysis being made on the use of social media. This assignment used my skills of critical thinking and problem solving. In this worksheet, I made a thorough survey on the internet about whether the use of social media should be curtailed or not and put in the results in the respective boxes. I used my critical thinking approach to solve this worksheet along with some of my knowledge about the use of technology.
Reflection: This assignment helped me to analyze the situations critically with a skeptical mind. I got to learn how the use of social media is favored by the majority of people while very few people want to avoid its usage. If I have to undertake this task again, I would do a more comprehensive survey, not being limited to internet only, rather I will physically ask people about their opinions and include the results in my worksheet. The students are advised to use the same approach because it will enable them to collect more data and they will have to make critical evaluation for all of that which would serve to get their skills polished further.
Analysis of a Video Clip
Introduction: In this assignment of critical thinking and problem-solving course, I was required to watch a video clip and make a critical analysis afterwards. This assignment made the use of my critical thinking skills as I had to narrate the whole story of it with its impact on the audience thereof. In this analysis report, I watched the compete video and pondered over each and every bit of its aspects so as to be able to complete my task. My critical thinking skills and written communication skills were used while this task was being carried out.
Reflection: I learnt about the tips to pick up the important aspects of a given content which helped me to improve my critical thinking skills to a greater extent. I learnt how a fragile video clip can be evaluated critically. If this assignment has to be retaken by me, I will include in it the strengths and the weaknesses observed in the video clip as this would be the real test of critical thinking skills. I recommend the students, undertaking similar assignment to get deeply involved in the video clip so as to be able to critically assess it with even a minute point of it getting caught under observation.
